Defamation

Kairi the Attorney

Defamation is any false information that harms the reputation of a person, business, or organization. There are 2 types of Defamation

  • Libel; written defamation

  • Slander; spoken defamation

To prove that you have been harmed by defamation… YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SHOW THAT IT HAS HARMED YOU FINANCIALLY, MONETARILY, ECONOMICALLY!!! It is not enough that it caused you emotional harm.

The defamation has to be “published” (meaning that it has to be shared) with a third party, (someone other than you and the person creating the defamatory content).

If you are considered a “Public Figure” or a “Celebrity” the general rules about defamation don’t apply to you and it becomes MUCH harder to win a case for defamation.
